Theorem Appoints President, CEO

Potthoff to lead operations

Dr. John Potthoff, Ph.D. has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Theorem Clinical Research. He succeeds Dr. James M. Pusey, M.D. who has been appointed to serve as executive chairman of the board.

“In the last nine months, Theorem Clinical Research has seen a significant increase in backlog,” said Dr. Pusey, who led the newly independent CRO’s spin-out from former owner Omnicare, Inc.  “The majority of this growth has been in the North America and Asia Pacific regions, as well as in our Technical Services and Medical Device Business Units. John has an impressive track record in the CRO industry, where he has demonstrated a talent for effectively operationalizing significant new business wins, and running an efficient, productive organization. Under his leadership, I’m confident Theorem will realize long-term success and profitability.”

Dr. Potthoff has 18 years of experience in the CRO industry, with a drug development background. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer at INC Research, where he achieved record year-on-year profits, operationally integrated seven acquisitions, and also helped negotiate the sale of the business in 2010. Prior to INC Research, Dr. Potthoff was president and chief executive officer of Tanistry, Inc., a niche CRO acquired by INC Research in 2001. He also spent seven years with PPD.
